Daniel L. Alkon, M.D. is scientific director of BRNI and is co-author of many tomes and articles dealing with neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease. Dr. Alkon and collegues continue to explore for new targets for research, including potential new targets for Alzheimer's disease drug therapy. Daniel received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry in 1965 at the University of Pennsylvania. After earning his M.D. at Cornell University, Dr. Alkon completed an internship in medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York.In November 2000, Daniel became Scientific Director of Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute. He and his collaborators have developed a cellular model of early Alzheimer's disease pathophysiology. Daniel is a recognized authority in memory research and the basic science of memory and has authored hundreds of scientific articles as well as several books including Memory Traces in the Brain by Cambridge University Press, and the popular book Memory’s Voice by Harper Collins.
