Back to Site
Built on the site of the first Central High School at the southeast corner of Market & Juniper Streets, the building was first the second and larger John Wanamaker Department Store, then Lord & Taylor, now Macy's; a plaque was affixed to the building by the Associated Alumni Association in 1930 commemorating the site as that of the first CHS from 1838-1854; the plaque has been since removed; it is believed that it is housed in the Archival Office at CHS Photo taken 1903
