I have served on the last three Reunion committees trying to get information about our classmates and encouraging people to attend our reunions. It dawned on me that in fifty years, I have never submitted anything about myself. So here goes.
After I attended Temple University, I graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where I served as an instructor in the fitting of Contact Lenses. Simultaneously, I practiced Optometry in New Castle, Delaware, specializing in Contact Lenses. Many of my patients were high school, college, and professional athletes.
As President of the Optometric Association, I was instrumental in developing a program for the use of ophthalmic drugs for Optometrists in Delaware, and instituting a Continuing Education program, spending much of my time in Legislative Hall in Dover, the state Capital.
After our fifth reunion, I was inadvertently put on the Missing or Deceased List, and I did not hear about reunions till our thirty-fifth. Maybe, living in Wilmington, Delaware is the same as being deceased or missing.
Six years ago, I retired after fitting 30,000 pairs of Contact Lenses; it was time.
Since I retired, much of my time is spent in the beach community of Margate, New Jersey, where we own a Condo. Because so many of our classmates also own properties in the area, we have done a lot of reconnecting and socializing.
The last five years I became active in the Lifetime learning program at Widener University, attending classes three days a week, four hours a day, and serve on the Board of Directors. I also teach a class in the finesse of playing Blackjack.
My bride Dianne and I (we were married September 2009 after a ten-year courtship) are nationally-ranked Scrabble players and travel around the country competing in tournaments and Scrabble clubs.
We have been Philadelphia Eagles Season ticket holders for thirty- five years and long for a Super Bowl championship before we finally relinquish our tickets.
Best wishes to all; see you at the 50th!
