Father Don, a veteran clergyman who resides at St. Peter's Parish House at Fifth Street & Girard Avenue, the Shrine of St. John Neumann, has led the liturgical services throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for more than two decades. Father is a Redemptorist priest, ordained in 1968. He pursued advanced studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris and the Gregorian University in Rome and has taught in various seminaries and universities in this country. Father Don has also served at parishes in Buffalo and New York City's colorful East Side. During the observance of Good Friday last March 25th, the Reverand Miniscalco held a special devotion from noon to three on the last seven words of Christ. Donald noted (The Northeast Times) that "The Holy Week" is the most special week for Catholics, and the parish wants to make it a beautiful time for the people". Since 1980, Father Don has devoted full time energy to conducting parish Missions. Although he works primarily in the Philadelphia region, he has also conducted renewals in Ireland, Canada, and the Caribbean and has directed retreats for priests, sisters and lay people in the United States and abroad. In 2003, Pope John Paul II bestowed the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice honor on Father Miniscalco at the request of the Philadelphia Archdiocese in recognition of his service in the new evangelism.
