Jay is a practicing urologist in Northeast Philadelphia. He and his wife, Bernadette have been married for forty-one years; they have four children
and eight grand-children. Jay has practiced in Philadelphia and Bucks County for thirty-seven years; he is affiliated with a half dozen hospitals while attending to his patients at several offices. He is Chief, Section of Urology, of Frankford Hospitals Section of Urology since 1985. Jay specializes in a widerange of urologic surgery, including surgical treatment of prostate, testicular,
kidney and bladder cancers. Dr. Handler works closely with radiation oncology
and radiology to perform prostate seed implantation therapy, a new procedure that inserts low-dose radioactive seeds into the prostate to administer localized radiation to a tumor. Dr. Handlers
postgraduate training
includes a residency in general surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center and
a residency in urology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Jay served in the United States Army 1969-1971. He earned his under- graduate degree at
Albright College and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Clinical
Urologists, the American Urologic Association and the Philadelphia Urologic
Society; Jay is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of
the Society of Surgical Oncology.
