At the 45th Reunion, Alan Dickerman (left) and Paul Miller take a moment to reminisce about the good old days at CHS. Alan Dickerman, Allen Schwartz and Allen Hirsh share something besides their first names and being members of the '214'. All were members of Boy Scout Troop 293 in Strawberry Mansion. All those overnight camping trips and summers at Treasure Island Camp, troop meetings and basketball games in the gym at Congregation B'nai Jeshurun. It is said that 'Only Dickerman could make a boy scout uniform look fashionable!' Alan attended Temple University Dental School and received his DDS degree in 1967. He continued his post-graduate education as a Captain in the United States Air Force Dental Service Corps. and received commendations from both the Strategic Air Command and the Erhling Berquist Hospital. Following his two years of service, he started his private dental practice in Bala Cynwyd, PA in 1969. Dr. Dickerman was an associate and consulting staff member at Philadelphia Osteopathic Hospital for over twenty years, and held staff positions at Elwyn Institute, Teddyfrin School District, and Sleighton Farm School for Girls. Over the past 35 years , Dr. Dickerman has accumulated over 3000 hours of post graduate education, including a two- year post- graduate orthodontic course at the Institute for Graduate Dentists in New York city in 1971 and 1972. He attained Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentist in 1978. He has written articles for dental journals, is a premier consultant for the Gerson Lehrman Council of Advisors, listed as one of America's Top Dentist by the Consumer Research Council of America, and nominated as one of the best Cosmetic dentists in the Philadelphia suburban area by Main Line Magazine. Dr. Dickerman currently holds membership in the following Dental organizations: American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentists, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Montgomery -Bucks Counties Dental Society, American Analgesia Society,
American Academy of Oral Implantologists,
American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Alan's hobbies include skiing, golf, fishing, and a love for architecture. Alan is married to his wife, Judy for 39 years and is the proud father of two beautiful and successful young women. I enjoy answering my patients questions, and discussing their concerns.
