The Rising Sun chair from which John Hancock, the President of the Continental Congress presided over the signing of the Declaration of Independence as well as the day-to-day colonial business. Franklin observed that he didn't know whether the sun carved on the back of the chair was actually rising or setting on these newly formed United States. It is the optimism of our leaders that the chair is called a "Rising Sun Chair" |
