| 67th Street looking toward Elmwood Avenue. The Auditorium is being blocked and bricked. The North Wing is complete. You will note that the gym cage is located on the roof of the South Wing reversing that of CHS. The building used more red brick than CHS which had more light gray facade giving it a more modern look. What do you suppose is housed in the corner of the building in the foreground? Perhaps the Gymnasium? The Philadelphia high schools during the late thirties received federal money (approximately 45% of the building costs)for their construction: Central High School, John Bartram High School and the Northeast High School for Boys.
