Dr. Levin is Department Head/Psychology at Blue Ridge Community College. He has earned degrees from Temple University (A.B., Psychology), North Carolina State University (M.S., Psychology), and Virginia Tech (Ed.D., Curriculum and Instruction). Since 1976, he has been a reserve police officer with full powers in the City of Waynesboro VA; since 1997, he has been Commander of the Police Department’s Policy and Planning Bureau. Dr. Levin is Director, Research and Development, of the Society of Police Futurists International. He is vice chairman of the Futures Working Group, a joint venture of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Society of Police Futurists International. He serves as the visiting scholar at the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI Academy. He is a member of the Traffic Law Enforcement Committee of the U. S. Transportation Research Board and chairman of the Ethics Advisory Panel of the High Tech Crime Consortium. He has led a variety of organizations, both private and public, in social service, civil liberties, corrections, and law enforcement domains. His work has appeared in The Police Chief, Police Research & Management, Law Enforcement Technology, Police Futurist, the FBI National Academy Associate, and Crime and Justice International. His most recent work, on the future of officer safety, was co-authored with Michael Buerger and is the lead article in the September issue of FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin. Levin has presented on criminal justice topics at meetings of the World Future Society, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Police Executive Research Forum.
