The ballroom was enhanced by this lovely couple. Not only fashion plates but great dancers. It was good to see them. Clay earned degrees in Music Education, Music Theory and Composition from Temple University. After teaching music in the Philadelphia Public Schools from 1964-1969, he began a 33-year career at Community College of Philadelphia where he served as Professor of Music and Music Department Chair. He took an early retirement in 2003. Working as a performing musician and composer, he published over one hundred compositions and a book, Tryin To Get Ready, chronicling African-American Spirituals. He have conducted his professional choir, The Clayton White Singers, for 32 years. "My family includes my wonderful wife, Cheryl, one daughter, one son, a great daughter-in-law and two grandsons, ages 15 and 21. My retirement years are filled with music as well as playing and teaching bridge.
