Houses occupied the southwest corner lot at Ogontz & Olney Avenues. The site was situated on a bluff overlooking the intersection, and probably more consistent with Dr. Haney's vision of where the modern state-of-the-art facility should be located. He directed and refined the design and location of the facility, noting that the CHS Administration wanted the graduates and its future benefactors of CHS to come to a new, modern building. Haney knew that the student population was shifting to the West Oak Lane and Northeast regions of Philadelphia. Note the Route 26 (Rittenhouse & Pulaski- Fox Chase)trolley tracks and a trolley in the distance arriving at the Ogontz Avenue car stop. March 25, 1937 (Photo courtesy of www.phillyhistory.org) |
