Stuart had earned a B.A in Accounting in 1965 and an in Lubrary Science in 1968 from Drexel Institute of Technology; As of 1995 he was Head of the Automobile Reference Collection at the Main Branch on Vine Street. He enjoyed ferreting out "that arcane minutia so valuable to automobile enthusiasts". He also had a business at home, Stuart Sports Cricket Specialists. He sold cricket equipment and dispensed advice to colleges and players throughout the world. After retiring from the Free Library of Philadelphia in 1995, he became curator of the C.C. Morris Cricket Library at Haverford College. Stuart was one of the pillars of cricket in the Philadelphia area; a long-time member of the Prior Cricket Club of Fairmount Park, he had held organizational roles over the years, following in the footsteps of his father; in the last years he was not an active player, but he would always find time to stop by and watch the match; the club won many games due to his expert batting; he is survived by his wife Susan and children Julia and Ian
